Chisel Plow Sweeps

Chisel Plow Sweeps are available in Bolt-On and Quick Change configurations.

Heel Sweeps

The Nichols heel sweep is a revolutionary design that allows both sweeping and chiseling to be done simultaneously. This combination results in breaking up the hardpan to encourage better root penetration and absorbtion of moisture. Manufactured from 1/4" hardened steel, Heel Sweeps are available in 16" and 18" widths and will accept any 2-1/4" hole pattern chisel to mount on top. We recommend p/n HS13CP (shown in image).

Hiniker Blades; Reversible

Nichols replacement reversible blades are made from 5/16″ heat-treated steel, complete with 3/8″ counter-sunk holes. Left and right pieces are available either plain or hardfaced.

Danish Sweeps

Nichols has a broad selection of Danish sweeps for almost any shallow cultivation situation. Constructed from heat-treated steel for a long life, each piece has a peg below the bolt hole to divert soil away from the bolt.

Orthman Blades; Reversable

Nichols replacement reversible blades are made from 3/8″ heat-treated steel, punched and countersunk for 3/8" plow bolts. Left and right pieces are available either plain or hardfaced.

Row Crop Sweeps

Row Crop Sweeps are manufactured for a wide variety of machines and applications with available sizes ranging from 4” to 32” cultivating widths. All have standard 55 degree shank angles and are made from hardened high carbon steel for long life and clean cutting.

Beet Sweeps

Nichols beet sweeps have curved wings and take place of both Smith fin and Danish sweeps. Since this sweep runs shallow, dirt does not flow near the bolt head. For best results, use Nichols beet sweeps with Nichols flexible S tines.

Soil Slitter Sweeps

The Nichols Soil Slitter is used with the Nichols Quick Change system for direct seeding into stubble while simultaneously cultivating, saving a separate operation. Sizes are available from 2”, 3” and 4” hoe style to 6” through 14” sweeps. Parallel wings ensure the original width is maintained throughout their life. With a narrow stem width of less than one inch, the Soil Slitter is a true narrow-profile opener. Nichols recommends our hardfacing option for optimal performance.
